Open Commons Consortium (OCC), a division of the Center for Computational Science Research (CCSR), was pleased to participate in the Accelerating Research Using Data Meshes and Data Fabrics (ARDM-26) Workshop held June 15–16, 2026, at the University of Chicago's Rubenstein Forum. The workshop brought together leaders from academia, government, and industry to discuss the design, implementation, and operation of data meshes and data fabrics that support large-scale biomedical research communities.
Representing OCC, our Director, Dr. Robert Grossman, joined fellow researchers and technology leaders in discussions focused on advancing data-driven research through modern data architectures. The workshop highlighted emerging approaches for enabling secure, scalable, and interoperable access to distributed data resources while supporting collaboration across institutions and scientific domains.
As a long-time contributor to the development of data commons, data ecosystems, and federated research platforms, OCC remains committed to building infrastructure that accelerates scientific discovery while promoting responsible data sharing and governance.
We are grateful to the Center for Translational Data Science (CTDS) at the University of Chicago for organizing this valuable event and look forward to continued collaboration with the broader research community to advance innovative data platforms that support biomedical research and precision medicine.
